300,000 Georgians with Concealed Carry Permits

In a story about the new concealed carry law in Georgia was this fact:

The new law only applies to the 300,000 Georgians with concealed weapons permits and visitors with weapon permits from 16 other states that Georgia recognizes. There are approximately 35,000 permit holders in Dougherty County.

They just can't get those details and facts straight. Most of the law applies to the out of state CCW holders and GaFL holders (Georgia Firearms License, our license makes no difference between open and concealed carry). BUT it also allows anyone not prohibited from getting a GaFL to carry a firearm ANYWHERE in their car. Therefore, unless you've been convicted of a drug possession charge OR some other more serious crimes, you're good to store a gun anywhere in your car.

AND the law prevents businesses from firing an employee from having a gun in their car.

35,000 seems a bit high for any county outside metro Atlanta. I'd be surprised if even Fulton County, the most populous in the state, had 30,000.
