More people watched McCain than Obama's acceptance speech. So much for the claims that Obama still generates so much excitement

McCain had 38.9 million watching him, and Obama had 38.4 million. A 500,000 person difference. McCain got males and whites. Obama got women and blacks.

You can't compare apples and eggs. Lead ins are important. McCain had as his lead-in the first of NFL football game of the 2008 season with the Super Bowl winning New York Giants, which can explain some of the larger male audience.

I watched the game and was fully expecting the normal immediate after game interview on the field with some player from the wining Giants, when Brian Williams came on immediately and sad:"We are going to go directly to John McCain's speech at the National Republican Convention".

Any TV show in America would gladly take that lead in week after week.
