Should we ban Champagne?

Who knew that there were 20 million bubbles of carbon dioxide in a bottle of champagne? Is that bottle of champagne really worth the horrible damage that it will do to the world's environment? Hopefully some very intelligent politician will see this danger and just simply ban champagne. Possibly they can add Coke and other soft drinks to the list also.

I worry a little bit that by raising this issue someone will take it seriously.

I thought a little about this a while back. I did some research, and it turns out that all the soda consumed in America in a year releases about as much CO2 as a town of 40,000 people do in a year.

Don't fizzy drinks actually sequester CO2? At least until released? Just like trees?

Speaking of trees, has anyone seen any followup on the news last week about four new power plants in the UK which will burn imported wood as fuel?
