"Google Street View accused of Congress 'snooping'"

Saying something "may have" happened and saying that it did happen are two completely different things. Right now this seems pretty sensational as far as claims normally go.

Google's popular Street View project may have collected personal information of members of Congress, including some involved in national security issues.
The claim was made by leading advocacy group, Consumer Watchdog which wants Congress to hold hearings into what data Google's Street View possesses.
Google admitted it mistakenly collected information, transmitted over unsecured wireless networks, as its cars filmed locations for mapping purposes.
Google said the problem began in 2006. . . .

I realise that Congress is comprised of many idiots, but this is a tad over the top.

Wardriving is nothing new, and is also possible to do via general avaition aircraft.

WiFi security is not that difficult to setup, and is encouraged by the manufacturers of WiFi hardware.

With the aforementioned in mind, and considering that many in congress do not have a clue as to what is contained in bills that they are voting on, it comes to I as no suprise that they do not read the instructions that come with the WiFi gear that these fools purchase...
