Total gasoline taxes by state

ExxonMobile earned about 5.5 cents for every gallon of gasoline the company sold in the US in 2013.  The federal gasoline tax is 18.4 cents a gallon.

So we know who "big oil" really is: the government. I've seen the numbers before that show even more clearly that the government is also "Big Tobacco". I'd like to see a similar map showing state and federal taxes on tobacco. I'd bet that they correlate fairly strongly, since big appetites for spending rarely limit themselves to one target or another. Of course some states get their tobacco taxes on the local production rather than the sale of tobacco.
